ND Birth - SUPPORTING NEURODIVERGENT PEOPLE IN PREGNANCY, BIRTH AND BEYOND

Doula Directory

I am the founder of The Mindful Birth Group®, a national, award-winning antenatal hypnobirthing organisation. I am also a birth and postnatal doula and I am deeply passionate about individualised maternity and postnatal support. No two pregnancy’s or births are the same, and we all have different needs to navigate this life stage!

Why Supporting ND Birth Matters?

Because everyone deserves individualised support and it’s important that any type of neurodivergence is taken into account during pregnancy, birth and postnatal recovery

Hey, I'm Emma. I'm a mum to two littles. I am a Hypnobirthing and Antenatal Teacher accredited by The Mindful Birth Group. I am very passionate about helping families prepare for birth, however it happens. I will provide a personalised experience based on your individual needs.

Why Supporting ND Birth Matters?

Pregnancy, birth and postpartum can be overwhelming for NT people, but even more so for Neurodivergent birthing people. Everyone deserves to go through pregnancy and birth feeling understood and to have their care centred around them. I feel it’s important to support neurodivergent people through the process, to give them skills to make informed decisions and to help them have a positive experience.

I’m Emma, I’m a mum of two by birth and adoption and I’m a Mindful Natal®️ Teacher living in Yorkshire. I run group and private courses in Leeds, West Yorkshire and on zoom. I’d love to take you from a place of anxiety to confidence about the birth of your baby and beyond. I want to present you with the evidence so you know what your options are and can apply them to your situation. I want you to feel safe, however you have come to being a parent. I believe in the intrinsic power within you to birth your baby and I’d love you to experience peace while you do so.

Why Supporting ND Birth Matters?

I want my services to be as inclusive as possible. I also have an adopted daughter who we believe may be neurodivergent and so understanding how she experiences the world makes me want to ensure that my offerings are applicable. I also believe that neurodivergent will have more obstacles in accessing the care they deserve and so need antenatal education that is applicable to them

I’m Laura, a Mindful Natal® teacher, a Birth & Postnatal Doula and Infant Feeding coach, providing inclusive and evidence-based support and care for families around Brighton and Sussex. In all of my roles, I’ve supported people with neurodivergence through their pregnancies, births and breastfeeding journeys.

Why Supporting ND Birth Matters?

My passion is that you are listened to, understood and supported in the right way for you. I’ve seen first-hand the difference it makes when people’s needs are met so that they feel safe, and this really matters before birth, during birth and after birth.

Hi I'm Sarah a self diagnosed neurodiverse Mum to 2 teenagers, an antenatal teacher and a mentored Doula! I have only recently self diagnosed (awaiting official diagnosis) and as such have been really learning about myself, other people and how this showed up in my pregnancies and labour. I am really looking forward to learning so much more and being able to support neurodiverse people through their journeys both perinatally and postpartum.

Why Supporting ND Birth Matters?

I think I have really understood the struggles that can occur whilst navigating the health system, the journey of birth and beyond and have found the ND birth training both inspiring and enlightening. Its so important that we can equip ND people with the tools and support to help make their journey as comfortable as possible!

I’m Hilary, mum to a neurodivergent little boy and twin girls. I am a Mindful Natal® Teacher, Infant Feeding Specialist and Nursery Nurse. Through my job roles I provide inclusive evidence-based support and care to parents living in Wiltshire and the surrounding areas. I am very passionate about antenatal and postnatal care and that having the right support and guidance from the beginning can have a huge impact on pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

Why Supporting ND Birth Matters?

Everyone should feel safe, supported and listened to during their pregnancy, birth and postnatally. Knowing that support and information sharing can be adapted to support everyone’s individual needs will have huge benefits to the outcomes for families going through this special time in their life.

I'm Abbie, neurospicy birth nerd, mum of two, and owner of Empowered Birthing. I understand first-hand the significance of positive birth experiences. My own two very different journeys into motherhood lit a fire within me to rewrite the narrative, and provide the honest, compassionate, and empowering education that I wish I had during my own pregnancies. I help women and birthing people reclaim their birth in a meaningful, transformative way, that embraces their autonomy and agency.

Why Supporting ND Birth Matters?

Every woman and birthing person has the right to approach birth with confidence and look back it on with positivity. As a neurodivergent individual myself, I have first-hand experience of the unique challenges pregnancy, birth and post-partum can bring to ND people. I'm dedicated to antenatal and hypnobirthing education that recognises every individual's unique experiences, and guides birth preparation in a way that makes everyone feel authentically seen, safe and supported.

I’m Julia and I am an experienced birth and postnatal Doula and HypnoBirthing Teacher from Leeds, West Yorkshire. I am also the Co-Chair for Leeds Maternity Voices Partnership. I live with my partner James, our two children (1 who is autistic), 1 cat and 1 dog.

As a highly trained expert in my field, I help families to make informed decisions and feel calm and confident during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I believe that all women deserve to have a positive pregnancy, birth & postnatal experience and by having support, understanding and help creating a positive mindset, this increases positive outcomes.

Why Supporting ND Birth Matters?

Pregnancy, labour and birth can be challenging for all women, but women who are neurodivergent, those challenges can be even more challenging. Very often simple adjustments can make someone’s experience much better, but for neurodivergent people, they are often misunderstood or unheard and their experience isn’t as it could be. Being supported by someone who understands their daily challenges and knows how to support them better, can really make such a difference to their birth experience.

About The Antenatal Teacher Directory
Why Did We Start It?

With an estimated 15-20% of the population being neurodivergent, improved awareness and understanding of neurodivergent support needs perinatally is essential.

This is why we have launched the ND Birth Antenatal Teacher section of our Directory, so that people can easily find professionals who are trained in supporting neurodivergent needs, or have their own lived experience of neurodivergence or supporting others.

All antenatal teachers on the ND Birth directory are committed to supporting neurodivergent birthing people and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • are themselves neurodivergent;

  • have lived experience supporting neurodivergent people;

  • have training in supporting neurodivergent people perinatally.
